Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, provided an update on the National Highway (NH)-275 construction project between Bengaluru and Nidaghatta in Mysuru. The national highway is significant because it will connect two of Karnataka’s most important cities: Bengaluru, the commercial hub, and Mysuru, the cultural centre. It also connects significant destinations such as Mangalore, Kodagu, and sections of Kerala to Bangalore. The highway has been planned as a completely access-controlled facility with service roads on both sides running the length of it.
The NH-275 segment from Bengaluru to Nidaghatta to Mysuru is a 10-lane, 117-kilometer route. It will cost Rs. 8,350 crore to construct. The construction work is almost finished, and it will be finished by October 2022. The stretch will have state of art project which will have multiple structures like 8 km long elevated corridor, 9 major bridges, 42 minor bridges, 64 underpasses, 11 overpasses, 4 ROBs and 5 bypasses which will ease out traffic congestion and significantly reduce pollution.
