Ten MoUs pertaining to port-based activity and worth Rs 9,100 cr were signed at the Partnership Summit which concluded at Visakhapatnam three days ago. These units are expected to provide direct and indirect employment to about 10,000 persons.
According to details available, the activity will be taken up at Nizampatnam, Kalingapatnam and Narsapur apart from Kakinada and Konaseema areas in East Godavari.
There are three LNG import units and one LPG unit among these 10 units.
Maha Infrastructure India Limited with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore and an employment potential of 500 will have its LNG units at Uppalaguptam and Yanam in East Godavari.
While GMR in association with KSPL Association will invest Rs 750 crore to provide employment to 1,000 persons and the activity will be in Kakinada Port area.
Hindustan LNG Teminal in East Godavari with an investment of Rs 2,,000 crore will provide employment to 500 persons. The proposed unit will be a land-based LNG terminal with 5 MIMTPA capacity.
Indian Oil Company will invest Rs 700 crore and develop LPG facility at its base in Kakinada and provide employment to 600 persons.
Among the other units, the Priyanka Group will set up Dry Dock facility in Kakinada Anchorage Port area with an investment of Rs 50 crore and will provide employment to 300 persons.
To cater to the needs of Port-based activity, the Euro Time Maritime Academy will set up a training centre for fishermen community.
The Exsquare Shipping Private Limited will set up multi industrial park and captive port in Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam district with an investment of Rs 3,500 crore and it is expected to provide employment to more than 30,000 persons.
The Ramco Company will set up a coal, clinker Jetty at Nizampatnam in Guntur distinct with an investment of Rs 500 crore which is expected to provide employment to 250 persons.
The Sasi Logistics Limited will set up a ship repair unit with dry dock facility at Narasapur in West Godavari.
The Fortuna Ship Services Private Limited will set up CFS integrated Agri Park at Kakinada to facilitate container cargo.
According to sources at port, some of the projects are likely to commence their activity shortly after fulfilling the requirements.
