110,000 frt of break-bulk cargo shipped for Fluor Kuwait

LIFT & SHIFT India Pvt. Ltd (LSPL) was awarded a contract for transport of spools and containers by Fluor for the FDH joint venture (JV) of Fluor, Daewoo E&C and Hyundai Heavy Industries on a door-to-door basis by L&T Hazira Yard, to the KNPC CFP MAB 2 project site in Kuwait.

A total of 111,189 cbm (21,321 tonnes), consisting of 2,150 pieces, 1,299 trips of break-bulk cargo and 700 containers, were shipped in 18 sea voyages and 50 container shipments which commenced in December 2015. The last shipment was completed in December 2016.

LIFT & SHIFT and Al Rasheed, its partner in Kuwait, were awarded this contract in October 2015. LSPL’s scope of work included engineering of the spools’ readiness for safe transport, transport of the spools in frames, as break-bulk and in containers to Adani Port Hazira, export Customs clearance of the cargo, collect the cargo in the port, deliver the cargo under hook at Hazira Port, arrange/charter ships for sea freight of the cargo, receive the cargo under hook in Kuwait port, undertake Customs clearance of the cargo in Kuwait and finally deliver the cargo to the KNPC CFP MAB 2 project site.

From the date of readiness to the delivery of cargo at site, the transit time was a total of 30 days. LSPL’s team of 25 people worked on this project between India and Kuwait.

For the sea freight, LIFT & SHIFT had chartered ships from various operators to deliver the goods as per the scheduled dates. The individual shipment volume ranged between 3,000 cbm to 10,000 cbm. A total of 18 shipments comprised 8 shipments less than 5,000 frt, 3 shipments of 5,000 to 7,000 frt and 7 shipments of 7,000 frt and above, which were handled within this year of operation.

In addition to the break-bulk cargo, a total of 700 containers have been shipped from India to Kuwait.
