33 out of 131 projects under Sagarmala Programme completed In Maharashtra

The projects are worth INR 1.05 lakh crore and will benefit the state with tourism and the citizens with their regular commute.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated the newly constructed Belapur Jetty on the occasion which was additionally attended by a number of ministers from the state. Post flagging off the occasion, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways & AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal, lauded the Mumbai Maritime Board and Central & State companies for completion of the tasks.

He mentioned that  such tasks deliver enormous advantages to the residents, boosts tourism and opens avenues for employment era. Adding extra in regards to the Sagarmala programme, he mentioned, “Sagarmala Programme has undertaken a variety of tasks throughout an array of classes corresponding to port modernization, rail, highway, cruise tourism, RORO & passenger jetties, fisheries, coastal infrastructure, talent improvement. 131 tasks price Rs. 1.05 lakh crore has been recognized for implementation in Maharashtra.”

“Out of 131, 46 projects worth Rs. 2078 crore being financially supported under Sagarmala scheme of Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Maharashtra coast has huge potential for urban water transportation which can become an alternate mode of transportation. ROPAX movement between Mumbai Ferry Wharf and Mandwa has resulted in a positive impact with a reduction in travel time for passengers, quick and agile loading and unloading process of vehicles. More than 32 projects were undertaken in four clusters – Palghar, Mumbai & Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg,” he added.

Officials from the ministry consider that the Water Taxi companies will give enormous impetus to the tourism sector, particularly journey to the historic Elephanta caves from Navi Mumbai. Visitors will have the ability to journey simply from Navi Mumbai to Gateway.
The service will join the dual cities of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai for the primary time. Besides this, the companies will begin from the Domestic Cruise Terminal (DCT) and also will join close by places at Nerul, Belapur, Elephanta island and JNPT. Stage II enlargement of Mirkawada Fishing Harbour in Ratnagiri District have been accomplished, modernization of Sassoon Dock and improvement of Karanja in Raigad and Anandwadi in Sindhudurg district are beneath implementation. Further, proposal for modernization of Mallet Bunder in Mumbai is beneath energetic consideration.”
