Delegation from Osaka Port & Harbour visits JNPT

Mr. SeigoTanaka, Vice Mayor, Port of Osaka, Japan visited JNPT along with representatives from different business divisions. The objective of the visit was to exchange information about port development, port management and logistics and strengthen collaborative relations with JNPT.
Welcoming the delegates, Mr S.V Madhbhavi, CMPPD shared a detailed outline of various initiatives taken under the government of India’s Sagarmala project and Ease of Doing Business. He also highlighted the efforts of JNPT to link hinterland by setting up dry ports in Wardha, Jalna, Sangli and Nashik in Maharashtra which will fuel economic growth in the region and give a boost to EXIM trade with faster movement of cargo to the port.

Sharing the experience of running the Port of Osaka,Mr. Seigo Tanaka, Vice Mayor, Port of Osaka said that the port was expanding with development of infrastructure in city side as well as around the port the way JNPT is doing it. They appreciated the efforts of JNPT in solving congestion in the Port area and would implement the learnings to find solution to the congestion problem at Osaka.

Port of Osaka had invited JNPT to participate for their 150th Anniversary celebration where Shri Neeraj Bansal, Chairman-in-Charge had represented JNPT. JNPT had also participated in the Asia Global Ports Conference with the theme of Ports’ Approaches to the Development of the Rapidly – Growing Asian Economy organised as part of the 2-day event at Japan.

During this visit, Mr.Toshimitsu Tanaka, Director Planning and Construction Division, Port of Osaka, Makoto Mihara, Manager for international Cooperation, Port of Osaka, Ms.Iunya Suzuki, secretary of Vice Mayor, Port of Osaka, Kazuhirov Oishi, Executive Director, Global  Environment Centre Foundation and Akiko Doi, Deputy Director for international Cooperation, Global Environment  Centre were part of the delegation.
