The Award is a recognition for company’s project “Water & Natural Resources management for Sustainable Agriculture”
APM Terminals Pipavav [Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd.], is awarded with the coveted GACL Gujarat State CSR Award 2019 for its “Cohesive & Strategic CSR Partnership”. The company received this award in recognition for its project “Water & Natural Resources management for Sustainable Agriculture”. Mr. Keld Pedersen, Managing Director and Ms. Harsha Mashelkar, Head HR – CSR & Admin received the award from Shri O P Kohli, Hon. Governor of Gujarat, who lauded the company’s strategic initiatives and efforts for sustainable community development through CSR.
Under the project, APM Terminals Pipavav initiated IT enabled information dissemination via an application called mkrishi. It also took into use humidity meter, audio video campaign to use advance technology for better crop management as well as demonstration of contemporary agricultural practices. The project covered 34 villages. It also focused on intensive water conservation strategies through lift irrigation, check dams, ponds deepening etc. Approximately 75% farmers in the project area adapted sustainable agriculture practices, leading to increase in farming related income up to 20%.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Keld Pedersen said, “I am grateful to Gujarat CSR Authority for recognizing our commitment towards the sustainable development of the community. Our objective is to ensure that every Rupee we spend on CSR activities, enriches the lives of the communities in a sustainable manner.”
