World Environment day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year to encourage and create awareness for the protection of our environment. MPT organised a Walkathon on 4th June 2019 to commemorate the World Environment Day. The Walkathon was flagged off by Dr. E. Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Chairman MPT, at the Main Administrative Building, Headland, Sada, in the presence of Trustees, Officers and employees of the Mormugao Port Trust along with other Port users and their employees and CISF personnel.
The Walkathon received an overwhelming response. The Walkathon commenced from the main A.O. Building, at Headland Sada, went through the F. L. Gomes road, Municipal Square, Swatanthtra path, in Vasco and later culminated at the Mormugao Port Institute bringing about an awareness on the need to protect our environment.
