Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), the number one container Port in India, held its Quarterly Port Customers Meeting (for FY ‘19-20), to apprise them about the on-going developments at the Port and also deliberate on any suggestions and concerns these stakeholders have, related to the Port.

This edition of the Port Customer Meeting began on a positive note as the new Inter-Terminal Rail Handling Operations (ITRHO) Agreement was successfully signed between JNPT and all its Terminals, and will be effective August 1, 2019 onwards. This was a long pending initiative which got resolved due to the consensus of the Terminals and their collaborative effort in the larger interest of Trade. In addition, all the Port customers collectively also discussed other bottlenecks related to internal operations and Port infrastructural developments, and agreed upon the next actionable steps to resolve these issues.

Speaking on this, Shri Sanjay Sethi, IAS, Chairman, JNPT said, “These meetings with the Port customers gives us a forum to openly discuss impending issues and have healthy deliberations on the possible solutions for the same, rather than unheeding these operational issues which then impacts Trade. All our Port customers are represented in these meetings and thus it brings accountability and transparency, which helps to build mutual trust and strong working relationship with our stakeholders, thus further benefiting the Port and Trade, at large.”

The Port customer was attended by officials and representatives of Terminal Operators, BCBA, BPCL, FEDSAI, BMCTPL, Concor, Central Railway, CFSAI, CSLA, MANSA and Customs.
