Over the month of June Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT) has reached a number of significant milestones. The facility recorded an all-time high level for loading steel billets in a day, handling 10,251 tonnes on June 9th this year, surpassing the earlier record of 8,594 tonnes. The shipment was handled for the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), with a total of more than 30,000 tonnes loaded, with an average rate of 8,861 tonnes a day, on the general cargo vessel, AEC Diligence.
PICT also achieved a new daily record for handling aluminium ingots. On June 5th the terminal loaded 3,654 tonnes, using two-hook operations, onboard Pola Pacific for Hindalco Industries Limited.
A third record was set for hot rolled coils. PICT loaded 25,710 tonnes in a single day on 6th June, surpassing an earlier record of 21,764 tonnes. The shipper in this case was Tata Steel. Overall, almost 42,000 tonnes was loaded onto the general cargo vessel Agria, comprising 1,951 steel coils, over a three day period. The terminal achieved an average productivity rate of 18,624 tonnes a day.
