API Integration of PCS 1x and Ports was initiated basis need for NIL lag and real time transfer of messages between the port operating systems and PCS1x. With the deployment of AGDORD – Agent Delivery Order message last week, MbPT is now LIVE with all 36 operational messages on API.
It was the Initiative of IPA and other officials to introduce API as mode of transfer to achieve real time transfer of data, whereas the earlier message exchange was via EDI, SFTP with short interval retrieval.
Ports & other stakeholders of PCS 1x were requested to start integrating with PCS 1x through API. This was aimed at enhancing the user experience of Stakeholders and Custodians to access the details from the messages without any delay.
MbPT was the first Major Port to take up the initiative and started API Development and testing with PCS 1x. MbPT and PCS 1x team started the process on December 15th and the Phase-1 set of 15 messages were deployed on production by 20th January 2020. Phase 2 set of 6 messages were deployed on 9th June 2020. Phase- 3 set of 14 messages were deployed on 19th June 2020 and the last message – ADGDORD (agent delivery order) was deployed on 13th July 2020. Which completes the 36 messages on production.
PCS 1x and MBPT have also deployed a mechanism which will have functionality to resend messages which may be not transmitted (sent/received) due to network error.
Many other ports across India are at varying stages with the move to API with PCS1x.
Chairman MBPT Shri. Sanjay Bhatia who also is the Chairman of the IPA thanked the teams of IPA, MBPT and Portall – who overcame many hurdles and achieved this task. It may be recalled that MBPT was also the first port in India to move 100% to PCS1x for eDO he said.
MD IPA – Shri Janradana Rao congratulated the MBPT team for being the first and encouraged all others to follow suit at the earliest. Other than ports, CFSs , ICDs and other stakeholders are also moving to API with PCS1x.
