July 28, 2020:

For the upcoming industries in Tata Industrial SEZ (TSSEZ) in Ganjam district, a dedicated common pipeline corridor will be established for operational linkage.

Accordingly, the IPICOL has roped in services of Engineers India Limited (EIL) for assessment of land for development of the common corridor between the TSSEZ boundary to the Gopalpur Port boundary for effective operational linkage for the upcoming industries.

While the pipeline corridor has been planned, the EIL has kept present requirement and future expansion in view so that later there will be no problem in erecting the facilities, said sources.

Presently, products to be handled are liquid ammonia, edible oil, while in future petrochemical based processing unit (PVC), petroleum gas (LNG), organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals and agro based chemicals for the SEZ will be handled.

PVC with 35,000 tons per annum, organic chemicals with 3 lakh tons per annum, inorganic chemicals of 2.50 lakh tons per annum and agro based chemicals with 1 lakh ton per annum will be handled through the dedicated pipeline corridor.

So there will be huge requirement in future and width of the pipeline will be made keeping safety standards taking into consideration, said sources.

Though earlier it was expected that the pipeline corridor will be 3.5 km, now it is planned that the corridor will be 2.5 km, which will not involve any forest land, so that no more clearances will be required, officials said.

Considering the requirement, about 36 acres of land with shortest possible route has been identified, said an official, adding out of the 36 acres of land, about 35 percent is of Government land and balance is private land, which would be acquired.

The EIL has planned the route in such a way that it will avoid village boundaries, so that there will be minimum or negligible displacement.
