The Vijayanagar Works plant President Rajashekhar Pattanasetty says that production is not an issue, but problems in transportation and logistics need to be addressed to speed up availability.
India’s largest steel producer, JSW Steel has said that it will target a supply over 20,000 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) by April 30 to help battle the oxygen shortage as the country continues to report over three lakh Covid-19 cases everyday. A large share of this comes from JSW’s Vijayanagar Works plant in Karnataka which will have supplied 11,500 to 12,000 tonnes of LMO by April 30.
The plant’s President Rajashekhar Pattanasetty says that daily oxygen production can be ramped up further if the need arises. “In the beginning of April, we were supplying around 200 tonnes of LMO per day. Over the last few days, this has gone up to 680 tonnes per day and we are prepared to supply around 800 tonnes per day as the requirement increases.”
