SHIPPING CONTAINER TURNS INTO CLASSROOM

The National Digital Literacy Mission has a new address in the city one that leads to a shipping container.

The container, set up in Yerawada, was recycled and refurbished into a learning centre or classroom. This new model of digital literacy centre was by secretary of department of electronics and information technology (DeitY) Aruna Sharma and Pune municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar.

The shipping container, which occupies 320sqft of land and is 40ft long, is equipped with 17 computers and has been set up as an ‘e-learning’ centre by non-profit National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) Foundation and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The container-classroom, which is air-conditioned and has internet connectivity, is called the ‘Future Classroom’ by HPE and has been installed in the premises of the Krantiveer Lahuji Vastad Salve e-learning School of Pune Municipal Corporation in Yerawada.
