A container handling facility would be set up at Paradip port within six months to boost exports from Odisha, Union Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia said. “Both the state and Central government are committed for infrastructural development in the state. We need to work together in close collaboration to sort out the regulatory issues and expedite the completion of the projects,” Teaotia said.
Joint Secretary, Commerce, Sanjaya Chadha said the Odisha government has taken a number of steps for promotion of exports. Odisha has been a pioneering state for putting in place a progressive Fishery Policy in 2015, covering the entire gamut of harvest, post-harvest infrastructure, market support and socio-economic issues. In spite of global slowdown, exports from Odisha crossed Rs 19,500 crore during 2014-15, he said.
