JN Port handled 3, 77,155 TEUs in August 2016 recording YoY growth of 1.85% and 4.33% growth over August 2015.

JNPCT port owned container terminal handled 1, 31,401 TEUs recording growth of 12.71% over April-August last year and 3.24% over July 2016.

Inter Terminal transfer of Tractor Trailers: In August, total 20639 trucks completing 21750 transactions availed the facility of Inter Terminal transfer of Tractor Trailers between the terminals. Since the terminals at JN Port were not inter-connected, any Tractor Trailor (TT), after exiting from one terminal, had to repeatedly stand in a queue to enter the other terminal leading to longer queues and added to congestion. This was a matter of concern for trade as it was an added expense in terms of time and cost. Acting on this long pending demand of the trade and for optimal utilisation of TTs, JN Port allowed the Inter-Terminal Transfer of Tractor-Trailers (TT) by allowing the sideways movement between all the three terminals in a phased manner from Feb’2015. Till date 2.6 lac trucks with 3.2 lac transactions have utilized this facility, saving 7.5 km road movement in each trip leading to savings of over 10 crore for the trade.

Direct Port Delivery facility (DPD): DPD volume of 6659 TEUs was handled at JNPort in August with JNPCT(Port owned container terminal) handling DPD volume of 1948 TEUs, which has been the highest since the start of this facility. Number of ACP clients availing DPD facility increased to 40 from 11 clients signed between Feb 2007 & Jan 2016. Through this facility, importers can get directly delivery of their consignments, enabling importers to save on transaction time and cost saving of approx. Rs.25,000-Rs.40,000/- per TEU. This facility was started in Feb 2007 on minimum volume criteria and as a path breaking initiative under “Ease of Doing Business” the minimum volume criteria was removed in February 2016.

Logistics Data Bank tagging: JN Port is the first port in the country to implement logistic data bank tagging of containers to track the movement of EXIM containers in western corridor. This facility was started at all the three terminals on commercial basis from 11th July onwards and now 100% tagging of the containers has been implemented.
