The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries of India (ASSOCHAM), one of the apex industry agencies in the country, has announced first office bearers for the first Maharashtra State Development Council (MSDC) for the year 2022-23. The State Council will be led by the Chairmanship of Mr Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Managing Director ATC Group, and Co-Chaired by Mr Umesh Kamble, Founder and CEO, Farm to Fork Solutions.
MSDC’s alignment with the state government policy and initiatives will be based on the Chamber’s four strategic priorities to drive inclusive and sustainable socio-economic growth for the country, viz. Sustainability, Empowerment, Employability and Digitisation.
The State Council is expected to play the following roles:
- Act as a nodal agency for showcasing the sector’s role in the US $5-trillion economic development agenda by creating and promoting research-based content to collaborate and network with the industry and government stakeholders, to take forward the sector’s agenda and support smaller players to become more competitive, thereby driving equitable and inclusive growth.
- Represent ASSOCHAM across various forums, highlighting issues being faced by the industry and suggest requisite interventions to unlock the sector’s skilling, governance and sustainability among others
- Engage in a constructive dialogue with policymakers, showcasing holistic and sector-specific efforts of the Chamber towards nation-building, which is also aligned to Atmanirbhar Bharat
- MSDC has identified few sectoral Committees on food and Agriculture, Renewables, Logistics, awareness of GEM certification and Education to focus on.

Assocham will engage and work closely with Maharashtra Government and coordinate with leading trade bodies and associations towards accelerating growth of State ‘s GDP”. Mr Umesh Kamble, Co-Chairman of Maharashtra State Development Council said, Maharashtra has been at the forefront in various industries including Agriculture, Food Processing, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Automotive & Education. Maharashtra is the largest economy in India and is expected to touch USD 1 Trillion in next five year.
