National Highways Logistics Management (NHLM) is processing the bids for three multimodal logistic parks (MMLPs) at Bangalore, Nagpur and Indore and expects the process to be completed by March 2023.
The MMLP at Bangalore will come up over an area of 400 acres and is located in Muddalinganahalli in the Bangalore-Rural district. The NHLM and the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) inked an MoU in October 2021.
Likewise, the MMLP at Nagpur is to be developed over an area of 230 acres near Sindhi village in Wardha district. The MoU for Nagpur was signed with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in October 2021.
The third MMLP is planned for development, covering an area of around 300 acres and is located in Machal village of Indore. Indore’s strong presence as a trading hub and sector-wise penetration makes it attractive for warehousing and logistics. The MoU was signed with the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) in September 2021.
In November 2022, Reliance Industries (RIL) bagged the contract for setting up India’s first MMLP near Chennai at a cost of Rs 1,424 crore.
