The Federation of Kutch Industries Association (Fokia) has raised several issues with the Western Railway concerning trade and business in a representation to Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of the Western Railway.

The Federation of Kutch Industries Association (FOKIA), an umbrella organization of industries in Kutch, has raised several burning issues related to railways, largely concerning trade and business.

In a representation to Ashok Kumar Misra, general manager of the Western Railway, FOKIA demanded the laying of a railway line connecting Adipur, Mundra and Mandvi for passenger and cargo movement. An industrial cluster near the Mundra port is throbbing and thousands of workforce daily commute to Mundra from Gandhidham for work or business using the road. The railway line would ease commuting for them. FOKIA also suggested that the commercial feasibility of this track would be taken care of through frequent cargo movement.

Fokia also represented the early completion of gauge conversion of the Vayor-Koteshwar phase of the Bhuj-Naliya line. This phase is being developed by G-RIDE in partnership with industries associated with Fokia. Nimish Phadke, managing director of FOKIA, said, “We have requested to extend this line to Lakhpat and beyond parallel to the upcoming Gaduli-Santalpur national highway. The upcoming cement industries in Kutch like Adani, JSW, Shree Cement and others have already requested G-RIDE for this extension.”
