The Green Automotive Hub is located on Queen Elizabeth II Dock in Eastham, within the Mersey cluster of Peel Ports.

The hub, considered to be the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, will be located on the River Mersey, and will cover an area of approximately 38.445 m², adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal, which is also run by the major UK port group.

The new hub, which is expected to open in September 2023, will serve a twice-weekly cargo route from Vigo Port in Spain to Eastham. It is predicted that 14,700 lorry journeys will be taken off roadways across the UK and mainland Europe each year, saving roughly 17.5 million kilometres in road trips. The Green Automotive Hub is the newest sustainable initiative from Peel Ports, which announced in 2021 its aim to become a net zero port operator by 2040, ten years ahead of the UK Government’s goal.
