In contrast to the past, the current government is making necessary preparations for sea routes. A project is underway to procure a large rescue ship, said the state minister at the Secretariat on Sunday.

Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury further said that the Jhalakathi’s Sagor Nandini-II oil tanker fire is still not under control. “Oil will be stored by today (Sunday),”
The reason behind the explosion will be revealed after an investigation, the state minister said.
On Sunday, four people sustained burn injuries while four others went missing in an oil tanker explosion in Jhalakathi. The incident took place when the oil tanker, Sagor Nandini-II, was unloading the fuel at the Padma oil depot around 2:10pm on Saturday in the Sugandha River, Jhalakathi Sadar Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Mahidul Islam said.
