Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited (Seaways) has opened a new, and larger warehouse in its Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) division, on February 18, 2017 at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.

Capt. PVK Mohan, Chairman and Managing Director of Seaways Group, inaugurated the 90,000 sq. ft. warehouse, in the presence of customers and company officials. Addressing the gathering of customers and employees, he said, “Seaways Group is at the forefront of providing integrated logistics solutions to our customers and the FTWZ division plays a crucial role in this. I am delighted that this division has witnessed encouraging growth in a short span of three years, resulting in expansion of our infrastructure to better serve our customers.”

Capt. Vikas Sirohi, Vertical Head, Turnkey Projects and FTWZ Services, said, “Seaways FTWZ is consolidating its presence in the southern region through the Sriperumbudur facility. We have recently entered the Mumbai market and look forward to expand our presence to other parts of India including Visakhapatnam, Mundra, Ennore (near Chennai) and Khurja.”

Elaborating further, Sathyanarayanan, Head, FTWZ operations said, “Customers including traders, exporters, importers and manufacturers can be benefited from the duty deferment benefit of up to 5 years for the cargo stored by them inside FTWZ. Customs duty can be paid only for the part of the cargo that they move out of FTWZ as and when they require (either for consumption or for further sale).”
