V O Chidambaranar Port has initiated several measures to improve the productivity of the cargo handling operations, the Port’s Deputy Chairman S Natarajan said.
The measures include mechanisation of cargo evacuation from the Ninth berth to the coal yard, harbor mobile cranes have been deployed in the port which will enhance the productivity of handling bulk cargo, road widening works are on inside the Port premises to improve the movement of vehicles.
The Port’s efforts to augment the capacity by carrying out various infrastructure projects should be supported by Port employees and Port Users, he said.
