The port has modified its infrastructure to establish a slipway for hauling vessels. Two shipyards have been setup within the port premises – B&T Marine (one of the shipyards) has delivered to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, two semi-submarine tourist boats. Further it is about to deliver another tourist boat which is being tested, and one more is under construction.

Another shipyard Dynamic Engineers Ltd. has repaired and delivered a liquid barge, offshore support vessel for oil rig operations and a sea bird hopper barge. The port is also planning to promote cruise tourism.

Under Sagarmala programme, the port will be dredging the harbour mouth and channel draft, berthing facility at the old port will be improved by constructing a new pier and a container terminal and new berthing facilities will be established.
