The central government has called for a feedback from the Indian trade community on the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP), 2024, which is in progress. An independent agency will soon be appointed for carrying out a feedback survey and report the findings to the Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT).
The focus is on streamlining existing regulatory processes, weeding out unnecessary processes and making compliance easier in areas such as single window systems, online building permissions, effective but non-cumbersome inspections, labor reforms, etc. This is the reason that the Centre is trying to instil competition among States and Union Territories (UTs) to liberalise the business environment.
State governments will be identifying and consolidating list of approvals (Centre- and State-specific) for establishment of new businesses. An online system will be developed at state level to ensure the submission of applications, payment of application fee, tracking status of application, third party verification, etc., can be done without any physical visit to the department.
