A major concern raised is about the national monetisation pipeline wherein the government is planning to divest its public ownership of container terminals to corporates, opines T.Narendra Rao, General Secretary, National Working Committee of Water Transport Workers Federation of India. This jeopardises the existence of major ports as public entities. Another concern is about the over capacity is being created at several major port, putting at stake their performance due to low draft and financial crunch.
