In a first of its kind industry – academia collaboration, the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai has teamed up with The Company of Master Mariners of India (CMMI) to launch a two year MBA programme in maritime, logistics and supply chain management. The speciality of this programme is it combines logistics and supply chain with maritime management.
Captain M P Bhasin, Master (Chairman), The Company of Master Mariners of India said, executives, non-seafarers and even seafarers including master mariners and chief engineers employed on ships should opt for this course, as the knowledge in logistics and supply chain among seafarers is very minimal. The programme will help develop next generation maritime leaders equipped with expertise to navigate the complexities of global logistics and supply chain management. About 39 students have already registered for the inaugural batch of this MBA course. The programme is highly flexible, a seafarer can do his first year and go back to sailing in his second year, and return to complete his programme in the third year. The course fee is Rs15 lacs (Rs10 lacs at the time of admission and Rs5 lac after 12 months).
