Even the Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal, which has been operational for years, has not been operational for years, has not managed to handle these many containers from a single ship.
The record was set with the unloading and loading of containers from the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) ship Anna, which arrived at Vizhinjam on September 27. The entire process took place over three days. The MSC Anna is the second-largest vessel to dock at Vizhinjam, measuring
399.98 meters in length, 58.6 meters in width, and with a depth of 14.7 meters. After unloading its cargo, the ship departed for Colombo, Sri Lanka, on September 30.
