Exports of ready-made clothing rose 17.3% in September compared to the same month last year, suggesting that India has benefited from the political unrest in Bangladesh.
The expansion coincides with a downturn in other nations that export clothing. Bangladesh’s political unrest has helped India’s exports despite global challenges like inflation and supply chain interruptions.
Some factories have been closed as a result of socio-political upheaval in Bangladesh, one of the leading suppliers of clothing worldwide.
According to a CareRatings analysis, “their exporters could face challenges in ensuring on-time delivery if the socio-political disturbances in Bangladesh persist for more than one or two quarters.”
“In such a scenario, India could gain monthly export orders worth $200-250 million in the near term.”
The research went on to say that Indian exporters might permanently take market share away from Bangladesh through backward integration and operational savings. For Indian exporters, the circumstance has created fresh chances to increase their worldwide presence. To promote Indian trade, technology, and customs, the AEPC will hold worldwide roadshows in Spain and New York. Growing markets in nations that have free trade agreements (FTAs) with India have supported the economic trajectory.
