According to an industry assessment, cargo volume at the nation’s main ports fell 4.95 percent in November, from 71.05 million tonnes to 67.53 million tonnes during the same period the previous year. The Indian Ports Association (IPA) claimed that the remaining 10 major ports saw a year-over-year decline in cargo traffic, while the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Deendayal Port saw a positive increase.
Deendayal Port (formerly Kandla), Mumbai Port, JNPA, Mormugao Port, New Mangalore Port, Cochin Port, Chennai Port, Kamarajar Port (formerly Ennore), VO Chidambarnar Port, Visakhapatnam Port, Paradip Port, and Kolkata Port, which also includes Haldia, are among the 12 major ports in India that are under the jurisdiction of the central government. According to IPA, cargo traffic at the top container port, JNPA, increased 12.34% in the month under review, while Deendayal Port had a 10.10% year-over-year increase in November.
According to the data, New Mangalore Port had a 19% year-over-year loss in cargo traffic, while Mormugao Port saw a 29.64 percent decrease in cargo traffic last month compared to the same period the previous year. According to IPA, November cargo traffic at other major ports, including Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Mumbai, decreased compared to the same month the previous year.
