Adani Ports has announced that it will self-fund the Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) project in Sri Lanka, withdrawing its previous request for financing from the US Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
The project, a joint venture between Adani Ports, John Keells Holdings and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, is on track for completion by early next year. It aims to expand the capacity of the Port of Colombo, making it a major transshipment hub in the Indian Ocean. By self-financing the project, Adani Ports demonstrates its financial strength and commitment to the development of Sri Lanka’s maritime infrastructure. The CWIT is expected to boost Sri Lanka’s economy and enhance its strategic position in global trade.
