In an effort to boost the logistics business, Union Minister of Commerce and business Piyush Goyal demanded that all industry participants be fully integrated into government platforms. He advocated for improving skill development in the logistics industry by utilizing the public, commercial, and academic sectors.
He stated that better road construction methods and quicker contract bidding procedures are necessary, highlighting the necessity for innovation in infrastructure development. “We can ensure that there is no time and cost overrun by utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics,” he stated. Piyush Goyal was speaking at the awards ceremony for the ULIP Logixtics Hackathon 2.0. He emphasized that the next governing model for resolving issues in the nation is hackathons. According to him, it is inclusive and involves inventors, startups, and fresh brains.
He exhorted the attendees to consider sustainability and incorporate eco-friendly methods into the logistics ecosystem of India. “To reduce overall carbon impact and make sustainability the core of our thinking, we have to adopt technology like electric mobility, biofuels, and multimodal transport options,” he stated. The Minister urged cooperation with institutions to train and create a workforce prepared for the future while discussing skill development in the logistics industry. In collaboration with NITI Ayog and Start-up India, the ULIP Logistics Hackathon 2.0 was introduced to give start-ups, businesses, and logistics service providers a national forum to discuss important issues facing the logistics industry.
The hackathon was further expanded for the 2024 edition, which saw an incredible response with over 4,751 registrants. 72 competitors were selected to create prototypes after a thorough evaluation procedure. At the Finale Event on December 20, 2024, 25 finalists showcased their creative solutions.
