The much-awaited ICD is expected to come up on 55 acres of land at Kadakola near Nanjangud on the outskirts of Mysuru in sixteen months.

The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has completed its survey and is expected to hand over the possession certificate of the land to CONCOR in about 10 days, Anup Dayanand Sadhu, Group General Manager, CONCOR, Bengaluru, said.

Mr. Sadhu said CONCOR will need sixteen months to come up with railway siding, warehouse, truck parking and an approach road, boundary wall, etc.

An ICD in Kadakola is expected to spur industrial activity both in and around Mysuru. It is more conveniently located than the one at Whitefield in Bengaluru for exporters from Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu.

Reduced cost

Though an ICD was planned here about three years ago, the process gained momentum in the last year. CONCOR had almost given up on proposal when the cost of land quoted was ₹75 lakh per acre.

Subsequently however, the government brought down the cost to ₹35 lakh. “We have already paid ₹20 crore towards the land,” Mr. Sadhu added.

The cost of the entire project, which includes two railway sidings and a 10,000 sq feet warehouse, is ₹100 crore.

The double track with electrification between Bengaluru and Mysuru is expected to help transport container shipment from the ICD in Mysuru to different locations including ports.
