MSC SOLA (LOA-366 m, GRT-13,771, Capacity-12,700 TEUs), drawing a draught of 15.20 m, was berthed at Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal (NSIGT) on March 28, 2017. It was the deepest container vessel handled at JN Port till date.

Maintenance dredging of the Port channel and basin has been carried out in the recent past and the Marine Department of the Port made use of the presence of spring tides to bring the vessel at berth on top of high water. JN Port is repeatedly achieving milestones with regard to vessel size to facilitate faster turnaround, thereby reinforcing its position as the leading container port in the country, the release emphasised.
