APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia emphasizes ‘Safety 24/7’ on Global Safety Day 2017

APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia observed APM Terminals’ 11th   Annual Global Safety Day on 20th April with participation from employees and family members, customers, and stakeholders at its facilities across India. Guided by the theme of “Safe 24/7”, the activities were focused upon raising safety awareness and commitment to avoiding risk at work during day as well as at night.
APM Terminals Inland Services’ programs in India took place at multiple locations in Mumbai, Dadri, Chennai, Tuticorin, and the upcoming facility in Pune.

Activities included the presentation of ‘safety bhajans (songs)’ by contract workers, a unique fashion show showcasing various kinds of safety gear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). On-the-spot safety quizzes were conducted for participants, including outside truck drivers. A skit concerning the realities and consequences of “Near Miss”, “Unsafe Acts” and “Unsafe Conditions” staged by employees was also performed.
Employees and contract workers who demonstrated high commitment to safety standards and the Safety-First culture throughout the year were also recognized as ‘Safety Heroes’.  Other activities focused upon ensuring safety included medical check-ups, first aid kit distribution, safety pledge, safety walk, PPE and fire equipment displays.
