In PM Modi’s recent meeting with PM Sheikh Haseena, it was decided to start negotiations for formulating a comprehensive economic partnership agreement. Further cooperation between both the nations will be boosted in the spheres of digitalisation, maritime and railway connectivity and blue economy. The two countries inked a document finalising a shared vision for a “green partnership.”
Discussions will be initiated to take forward the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) boosting economic ties. Extensive discussions were held on boosting defence cooperation, including in areas of defence production and modernisation of the armed forces.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasised on the depth and breadth of bonds between the two nations ranging from seas to space, digital, green, and health, military, rail, and disaster management.
India will also open a new consulate in Rangpur, Bangladesh, to facilitate services for people in the north-west region of the country and a new bus service between Chittagong and Kolkata, a new train service between Rajshahi and Kolkata, Joint Technical Committee for discussions on renewal of the Ganga Water Treaty, Commencement of export of 40 MW of power from Nepal to Bangladesh through Indian grid etc
