A new cargo train service connects Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and India

Container trains have started operating from India to Kazakhstan, transiting through Uzbekistan. The new route was organized with the participation of “Uztemiryulcontainer,” a subsidiary of “Uzbekistan Railways,” along with “Kedentransservice” and the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TLCT). The 4,885 km journey consists of 12 standard 20-foot containers passing through four countries.

Of the total distance, 1,585 km will be covered by sea from India’s Mundra port to Iran’s Bandar Abbas. The containers will then be transferred to platforms and cross three borders — at Serakhs, Farab, and Keles — before reaching Sorokovaya station in Astana.

Mirziyod Mirkhamidov, who was appointed head of “Uztemiryulcontainer” in February, shared plans to establish regular freight train shipments along the India–Central Asia route. This initiative is expected to strengthen trade ties and expand opportunities for exporters and importers.
