Abul Kalam takes charge as new CPA chairman

Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad has taken charge as the new chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority. On Sunday, Rear Admiral Zulfiqar Aziz handed over the responsibility to Abul Kalam at the port building at about 12:30pm.

Members of the port authority, directors and heads of various departments were present on the occasion. Abul Kalam, who has taken over the charge as 40th chairman of the port, served as chairman of the Mongla Port Authority before. On March 22, the Ministry of Public Administration issued an order to appoint Abul Kalam as the new chairman of CPA.

Abul Kalam, son of Sheikh Osman Goni and Khadeza Begum, was born on April 30, 1967, in Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia. He joined Bangladesh Navy in January 1985 and was commissioned in the executive branch. In recognition of his professionalism and distinguished service in the Bangladesh Navy, he was awarded with ‘Nou Gaurab Padak’.
