Adani Cements has recently acquired Penna Cement which has five bulk terminals at Kolkata, Gopalpur, Karaikal, Kochi, and Colombo. Thus Adani Cements will be using these terminals in cement logistics. Earlier, Adani Cements moved less than 2% of its cargo by sea, but with this acquisition the percentage of cargo moved by sea is expected to rise to 10% by 2027-28.

According to Adani Cements CFO, Vinod Bahety, Penna Cements advanced sea infrastructure will be particularly useful in serving the peninsular India region. Using sea routes could cut costs by ₹300-400 per tonne for transported cargo, with overall savings of ₹50-70 per tonne.
