Adani to start operations at Kamarajar Port in May 2017

The much awaited container terminal to be run by the Adani group at Kamarajar Port, Ennore near Chennai is now expected to be commissioned by the end of May or early June with equipment and clearances already in place.

The 0.8 million TEU capacity container terminal is awaiting the customs custodian notification to be issued by the Central Board of Customs and Excise according to Mr R Rajkumar, Deputy General Manager, Adani Katupalli Port Private Limited.

A four hundred meter long single berth with a draft of 16 meters capable of handling vessels up to 6500 TEUs capacity is ready for operation at the Ennore Port. The berth will have four quay cranes and 12 gantry cranes he said.
