The Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala is set to become an international airport. Once upgraded, it will be the third international airport in the north-eastern region after Guwahati and Imphal.

A Rs 438 crore Airports Authority of India (AAI) project is ongoing for the purpose, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year or by early 2020, reports said.
