Avashya Foundation collaborates with a Charitable Trust to mobilize meals for daily wage earners and migrant labourers during the COVID-19 lockdown

With the economy taking an unprecedented hit in the wake of the COVID-19 induced lockdown, vulnerable sections of the population have been grappling with an existential crisis. Avashya Foundation, the CSR arm of Allcargo Logistics, one of India’s largest logistics services providers, collaborated with Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust to mobilize close to 30,000 meals for migrant labourers, persons with disability, families in need and daily wage earners. Avashya Foundation was also instrumental in providing crucial relief support to these economically weaker sections of the community since the start of the lockdown.

“Deprived sections of the population have been most susceptible to the debilitating impact of COVID-19. By associating with Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust and mobilizing meals for daily wage earners and migrant labourers in the lockdown period, we have reiterated a firm commitment to strengthening community resilience and providing livelihood sustenance for economically vulnerable communities,” stated Dr. Nilratan Shende-GM CSR, Allcargo Logistics.

Allcargo has been spearheading key relief and rehabilitation initiatives for the economic empowerment of underprivileged communities. Allcargo has also been active in improving the employability opportunities of underprivileged youth in the ever-expanding logistics sector of the country by providing them job-based training at their Pradhan Mantri Kushal Kendra (PMKK) centre, in Uran.

“As concerned human beings and conscientious citizens, we need to be sensitive towards the pain and hardships that our fellow citizens from weaker sections of the society are undergoing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this hour of unprecedented suffering, it is our foremost duty and responsibility to ensure their social well-being and economic security. It is time to fulfil our moral debt towards our less privileged brothers and sisters and help them return to a life of normalcy,” stated Mrs. Arathi Shetty, Non-Executive Director, Avashya Foundation.
