Allcargo Logistics, India’s largest integrated, end-to-end logistics solutions provider, is turning its Kolkata container freight station (CFS) into a key driving force to boost ex-im trade in West Bengal. The strategic location of West Bengal is a gateway to Eastern India as well as the neighbouring countries of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Allcargo’s Kolkata CFS is the perfect launch-pad to expand ex-im businesses in these regions, said a release.

A year and a half since the facility was set up, the CFS, located 2.5 km from Kolkata Container Terminal, has emerged as a catalyst in positioning the North-East region as a vital transnational logistics hub.

Commencing operations in December 2017, Allcargo Logistics’ Kolkata CFS is built on 17 acres of area. Located close to the Kolkata Port and accessible from 3 major routes, it offers 40,000 sq. feet of warehousing capacity capable of accommodating 2,500 containers at any point in time.

Allcargo is positioning the Kolkata CFS to play a wider role to bring India’s North-East within the country’s trade and industry network, the release pointed out.

With end-to-end services such as Customs clearance, freight forwarding, LCL and FCL consolidation, and handling of over-dimensional cargo, the Kolkata CFS, with its 32 reefer points, offers all customers the competitive edge of a single window for freight handling. The CFS is a world class facility with modern equipment, 24×7 operations, dedicated CCTV monitoring and automated fire fighting system. In addition, it has all the key certifications such as ISO, OHSAS, AEO and C-TPAT to offer a safe and secure environment.

Ample earthmoving equipment and last mile delivery options provide the CFS the edge over other similar operators in the area. Allcargo will also be introducing ‘bonded warehousing’ at the CFS, the release said.

“Kolkata CFS has emerged as one of our top-performing CFSs. Equipped with world class facilities and well-trained staff, Kolkata CFS is now preparing to play a much bigger role in expanding ex-im businesses in Eastern India and in countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh,” said Mr Prakash Tulsiani, Executive Director & CEO (CFS-ICD), Allcargo Logistics.

This CFS helps in ease of doing business by aiming to cut container turnaround time down to 40 minutes. The facility maintains a separate stack yard for volume cargo which makes for easier handling and delivery. It also has its own dock levellers and a digital weighbridge. Night handling of cargo is facilitated by high-intensity lighting. The customer-friendly staff at the CFS ensures smooth operations of end-to-end transit.

Allcargo has been a prime mover in building a pan-India CFS network and offers customers unmatchable facilities — state-of-the-art technology platforms and experienced teams, backed by world class equipment and processes. The company was the first to incorporate RFID system in the facilities.

In India, Allcargo has pioneered global standards in the CFS segment. It is the only national CFS operator with presence across ports that handle 80 per cent of India’s container traffic.

Allcargo takes pride in its 25-year legacy. The company has emerged as a logistics major by developing a global network of 300+ offices in 160+ countries, the release added.
