Allcargo Terminals, which operates India’s leading container freight station-inland container depot (CFS-ICD) networks, has ramped up the capacity of its CFS in Kolkata, West Bengal, spread across 17 acres of operational land.
“Kolkata CFS is equipped to handle over 1,200 TEUs of rice monthly. With its enhanced capacity, the CFS aims to achieve a throughput capacity growth of more than 25 percent due to the growing demand of rice exports, primarily originating from Asansol and Bardhaman districts in West Bengal,” says an official release.
Equipped with reach stackers, the facility ensures faster loading, unloading and container evacuation, supported by an adequately skilled workforce, the release added. According to Allcargo sources, additionally, it provides customized services, including same-day, safe transit-to-port solutions for Kolkata and Haldia ports via container trailer trucks.
It has ample capacity in terms of space, a skilled workforce, advanced cargo-handling equipment, technology and infrastructure, as well as the availability of empty containers, to customize and serve customers demand efficiently and plans are also underway to boost operational capacity with the introduction of a conveyor belt system, expediting cargo handling in Kolkata CFS.
