Amitava Baksi appointed as Achilles Ambassador to Strengthen Industry Collaborations and Drive Sustainability in India Inc.

Achilles Information Limited, a global leader in supply chain sustainability and risk management solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Amitava Baksi as Achilles Ambassador for the steel sector. With a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the sector’s unique challenges and opportunities, Mr. Baksi is a seasoned professional in the steel industry. In this strategic advisory role, Mr. Baksi, with his industry expertise, will foster collaborations and partnerships that advance sustainable practices and supply chain resilience within the steel industry. His role will also include identifying and cultivating business development opportunities for Achilles India across a range of sectors, which is expected to significantly contribute to the company’s continued growth and impact in the region.

Mr. Baksi joins the prestigious global network of Achilles Ambassadors, a select group of industry leaders Achilles Information is strategically cultivating to expand its reach and influence across diverse sectors and geographies. Based in the heart of India’s steel industry, Jamshedpur, Mr. Baksi will play a pivotal role in driving Achilles’ mission of fostering sustainable and resilient supply chains.

Mr. Baksi brings with him almost four decades of rich leadership experience. He has worked in multiple senior executive roles at Tata Steel. He served as Chief Procurement Officer at Tata Steel in his previous role. A mechanical engineering graduate from Birla Institute of Technology, he also served as Managing Director of JAMIPOL, a Tata Steel-promoted Joint Venture. A renowned thought leader, Mr. Baksi held multiple positions in various industry associations, including chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), Jamshedpur Centre, Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)—Jamshedpur Zonal Council, and member of the CII Jharkhand Council. He currently serves as the President of the Association of Supply Chain Professionals (ASCP, India)

His contributions to the industry have been acknowledged with several prestigious awards, including the ‘Eminent Engineer’ award in 2010 and the ‘Distinguished Engineer’ award in 2013 by the Institution of Engineers (India), as well as the ‘Outstanding Leader in Procurement’ recognition by the Institution of Supply Chain Management (ISCM) in 2016. He is an active board member of MVS ACMEI Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Steel City Press Pvt. Ltd., and Arush Metals Ltd.
