The State administration is dedicated to making Andhra Pradesh a shipbuilding leader in keeping with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s goal. The State has enormous potential to become a major shipbuilding destination because of its 1,053 km of coastline, well-established port network, and advantageous positions. S Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary (Infrastructure and Investment), convened an important meeting to talk about prospects for AP to develop a cutting-edge shipbuilding sector. The Government of India’s Maritime Vision 2047, which seeks to rank India among the top five shipbuilding countries worldwide, is in line with this.

The Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB) has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) for shipbuilding ventures in Andhra Pradesh in an effort to expedite this ambition. The world’s top shipbuilders were contacted by the APMB team through this EOI, which attracted a lot of interest from the industry. Korean shipbuilders and Hyundai Heavy Industries have already interacted with the APMB and expressed a keen interest in the State’s potential. Andhra Pradesh was emphasized as a potential location for shipyard expansion during their site visits and conversations.

The main goal of the discussion was to discuss potential joint ventures with Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), one of India’s top shipbuilding companies. In addition to visiting possible locations for shipbuilding facilities, GRSE representatives had fruitful talks with the APMB. Officials claim that the coastal resources and infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh impressed the GRSE delegates. The main topics of discussion were how the state might help realize India’s Maritime Vision 2047 by developing a cluster of maritime ancillary industries and manufacturing ships. In order to promote investments, the APMB promised complete support, including incentives, expedited clearances, and infrastructure development.
