JNPT-APEC to further bolster training centre
Top functionaries of Port of Antwerp visited India as a part of high level delegation of King and Queen of Belgium. The team of Antwerp Port Authority & APEC that visited Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust on November 10 included Mr. Marc Van Veel, President, Antwerp Port Authority, Mr. Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO, Port of Antwerp and Mr. Krist of Waterschoot, MD, APEC as part of the delegation.
Shri. Neeraj Bansal, IRS, Chariman in-charge, JNPT welcomed the officials and shared a brief presentation on the major steps taken by the port authorities and various measures under ‘Ease of doing business initiatives’ that have been implemented at JNPT. He also apprised the delegation on the Government of India’s Sagarmala and Bharatmala projects. Followed by detailed discussion on JNPT Antwerp Port Training & Consultancy Foundation, which is a joint venture between the two ports that provides training and shares knowledge and expertise for port professionals in India and Asia. “With economic reforms and ease of doing business measures, India is attracting significant foreign investment and port sector will play a major role in handling the increased volumes of trade that comes along with growth. Trained port professionals will be able to meet this challenge in a much better way”, Mr Bansal added.
The delegation members were taken around the port for a detailed port tour to showcase the port and terminal operations along with various capacity addition initiatives being implemented at the port. Antwerp team thanked the JNPT officials for the detailed tour and very useful briefing about latest developments. Both the team assured mutual cooperation in making JNPT Antwerp Training Centre a world class Maritime training institute in the coming years.
