APM Terminals will provide funding, operational, and technological assistance to HATECO Group Joint Stock Corporation (HATECO) as part of their strategic collaboration.

The project intends to leverage the area’s advantageous natural conditions and geographic position in order to facilitate the direct purchase and export of products between the north of Vietnam and European and American marketplaces.

The initiative is also anticipated to immediately generate appealing possibilities for important customers and cargo owners in Vietnam’s north.

“We are proud of Hateco Haiphong International Container Terminal (HHIT) project, which is the largest and most modern container port facility in Vietnam. We are also excited to partner with APM Terminals and Maersk, who have been carefully chosen to be our long-term strategic partners due to aligned visions for the market and their capabilities to add value commercially and operationally,” stated Tran van Ky, chairman of HATECO Group.

The project involves investing in and developing two berths with a total length of 900 metres (450 metres each) capable of accommodating container vessels with a capacity of up to 18,000 TEUs.

HATECO plans to finish all building work and dispatch equipment by the end of 2024, with the new terminal anticipated to open in the first quarter of 2025.

The complex will initially have five ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and 14 rubber-tyre gantry (RTG) cranes.
