APM Terminals Pipavav receives award for overall community support initiatives

August 29, 2020: The Company was presented CSR Health Impact Award for its COVID Relief Project. APM Terminals Pipavav initiated preventive measures in its surrounding villages which included proactive efforts like demonstration of hand wash, awareness through mobile technology, poster campaigns, etc. Port’s timely support in COVID prevention and mitigation strategies were lauded by the district administration as well.

APM Terminals Pipavav [Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd] was honoured by New Delhi-based Integrated Health & Wellbeing Council for Port’s community well-being initiatives under COVID Relief Project. The Company was presented CSR Health Impact Award (COVID 19 Edition) in New Delhi by an eminent jury consisting of Senior Scientists, Social Workers, Parliamentarian & Doctors and Chaired by Justice Swatanter Kumar (Former Judge Supreme Court of India & Former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal).

The award was presented in an online ceremony wherein Justice Kumar lauded the efforts of the corporate towards COVID prevention and mitigation. The award is an outcome of APM terminal’s strategic CSR initiatives for COVID 19 prevention as well as over-all community support. The company ensured availability of masks, sanitizers, thermal scanners, oximeters, disposable bed sheets, personal protection kits and PA systems for Amreli Police and also facilitated preventive measures in its surrounding villages.

The company not only created the awareness on precautions and measures for controlling Covid-19 but also helped the local people of more than 30 villages by donating ration kits, healthy drinking water, ensuring treatment of live stocks through mobile vet clinic, and digital educational support to more than five thousand students. Moreover, APM Terminals trained the women of the village to make mask in order to provide livelihood resource to them and also encourage the use of washable masks in villages.

Speaking on the honour received, Mr. Jakob Friis Sorenson, Managing Director, APM Terminals Pipavav said, “We are honoured to accept this award for our work in the area of societal development. We are grateful that our efforts towards the community are not only acknowledged but are also appreciated by the authorities. We will continue to work towards the betterment of our society and try to improve livelihood of community surrounding the Port through all our activities; constantly and consistently. This honour is another motivation to keep working harder and with the best possible intent.”
