Exports from the Indian subcontinent are on the rise, guided by trade diversification in Asia. This is ushering global maritime giants to invest more into this region. Capitalizing on this trend, Maersk subsidiary APM Terminals is weighing options to build a terminal presence in Pakistan. APM Terminals officials said Pakistan market is important owing to the strong growth and its role in the global trade.

CEO of APM Terminals recently visited Pakistan to hold talks with the government representatives and to identify potential investment opportunities. In late 2022, the group opened a large warehouse in Pakistan, as a first step to creating a landside footprint.
