Apple is set to create a new distribution centre in India to consolidate its logistics and supply chain. This will be the first centre in India. Currently Apple products are brought to India via different cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. Each city has a different VAT rate and this causes discrepancy in prices. Further online retailers source their supplies from places with low VAT to gain a price advantage over brick and mortar retailers.

The distribution centre will be located in Bhiwandi and will be maintained and operated by logistics partner DB Schenker. The centre will enable Apple to stock adequately to ease operations and supplies.
